tinykoi vs Raindrop: an honest comparison

· Comparisons · 4 min read

In tinykoi vs Raindrop, the two are close on price and limits, and they differ in which features cost extra. tinykoi puts full-text search and highlight notes on the free plan. Raindrop is ahead on reach: it has shared collections and an iOS app, and tinykoi has neither.

Raindrop details here come from its limits page and help pages, and were checked in October 2026 against Raindrop's own pricing pages and docs. If you are already weighing several options, our roundup of Raindrop alternatives covers the wider field.

Price and plans

Raindrop is free, with Pro at about $3 a month or $28 a year. tinykoi is free, with Pro at $3 a month or $24 a year. Over a year, tinykoi Pro is $4 cheaper if you pay annually, and the same if you pay monthly.

Both free plans have no bookmark cap. Raindrop's limits page lists unlimited bookmarks, collections, tags and devices on Free.

Where tinykoi is ahead

Full-text search on the free plan. tinykoi searches every word of every page you save, on both plans, and shows the lines that match. Raindrop lists full-text search as a Pro feature.

Highlight notes on the free plan. tinykoi lets you highlight in five colours and add a note to any highlight on every plan. Raindrop's comparison puts notes on Pro.

No accidental duplicates. Saving a link you already have does not make a second copy in tinykoi. Raindrop does not prevent it. Its duplicate finder is a Pro feature.

Slightly cheaper annual Pro. $24 against about $28.

Where Raindrop is ahead

This is the part that decides it for many people.

Shared collections. Raindrop's limits page lists collaborators per collection. tinykoi has no team or shared workspaces.

Mobile. Raindrop's help pages describe exporting from iOS, which means there is an iOS app. tinykoi has no mobile apps at all. If you save from your phone, this settles the matter.

Browsers. tinykoi's extension is Chrome only, with no Firefox or Safari version. Raindrop has an extension too, but we did not confirm which browsers it covers, so check that before you assume it fits yours.

Extras on Pro. Raindrop's Pro plan lists reminders and automatic backups. tinykoi has neither.

API headroom on the free plan. tinykoi's free API limit is 20 requests a minute. Raindrop lists 120 requests a minute, though its page does not say whether that applies to every plan.

What stays the same

Both keep your library out of your browser profile, so switching browsers does not lose it, and both let you leave: Raindrop exports HTML, CSV and plain URL lists, and tinykoi exports HTML and CSV.

The upload limits are identical on paper: 100 MB a month and a 100 MB file cap on Free, 10 GB a month and 300 MB on Pro. Both have a trash, tags, collections, a reader and export.

Differences in feel are harder to put in a table. tinykoi has four views (list, grid, headlines and masonry), sort by date, title, domain or by hand, and a command palette for search. Try the layout with your own data, because that is the part no comparison can score for you.

Who should pick which

Pick tinykoi if:

  • You want full-text search without paying.
  • You mostly work on a desktop in Chrome.
  • You want a kept copy of pages on Pro and nothing you do not need.
  • You prefer that duplicates are blocked rather than cleaned up.

Pick Raindrop if:

  • You share collections with other people.
  • You save from an iPhone.
  • You use a browser other than Chrome and Raindrop has an extension for it.
  • You want reminders or automatic backups.

Moving from Raindrop

tinykoi imports a Raindrop CSV. Folders become nested collections, and tags, notes, favourites, covers, dates and highlights carry over. The import form is in Settings under Import and export.

Nothing is lost by trying it. Your Raindrop library stays where it is, and tinykoi's free plan needs no card. Compare all the rows on the features page and the plan limits on pricing.
